Astride Equestrian Provisions is built on years of equestrian experience and passion for horse riding. Our founder, Lindsay Vander Woude, has years of experience in the horse industry. Starting as a junior competitor with USHJA and USEF, followed by being a student-athlete on the Varsity Equestrian Team at Oklahoma State University, and later as a professional hunt seat instructor for 15+ years, Lindsay brings an extensive knowledge of English horse riding in her business. Her professional journey also included teaching all levels of riders, managing a large boarding of facilities, and training IEA teams for 7 years in Zone 7, Region 1.
Lindsay stepped down from coaching but still holds the credentials of a certified instructor. Later, she joined Tom Pickard, owner of the local tack shop Equiventure Tack & Apparel, as a part-time staff member.
Working with Tom ignited the fire of starting a tack and apparel business and serving the equestrian community of Tulsa and surrounding areas with quality products, guidance, and mobile unit. After Tom’s death, she was honored to continue his legacy and vision of supporting local horse enthusiasts.
The inspiration for naming the business Astride Equestrian Provisions comes from Tom’s influence on his love and from the advice he always gave to his customers, which is “Remember to keep one leg on each side!” The word Astride means “with one leg on each side,” while the picture on the logo is her daughter’s picture riding her horse.
With the combined years of riding and training riders in the community, we can offer an unbeatable tack and apparel store experience!
